“Engineering the Future of Mathematics and Legal Literacy”

At the heart of Math Court lies a commitment to evidence-based reform. Our Research & Development hub is the engine room where the complexities of the Trinidad and Tobago legal system meet the precision of mathematical analysis. We believe that to solve the crisis of legal illiteracy, we must first listen to those on the front lines—our teachers, principals, students, and parents. This page serves as a transparent repository for our ongoing national surveys, data analysis, and pedagogical experiments. By participating in our research, you are not just providing data; you are helping us engineer a more resilient, informed, and legally empowered society. Explore our current projects below and see how we are transforming raw data into real-world justice.

I. Mission Objective

To identify, quantify, and bridge the "Knowledge Gap" in the Trinidad and Tobago education system. Our R&D focuses on the intersection of Mathematical Logic and Legal Competency to create a curriculum that reduces professional liability and judicial backlog.

II. The R&D Methodology

  1. Data Collection: Deployment of national digital surveys to capture qualitative and quantitative insights from the four pillars of the educational ecosystem.

  2. Thematic Analysis: Identifying recurring "Legal Grey Areas" (e.g., the recurring confusion over the Children's Act or the Education Act).

  3. Content Engineering: Translating these legal pain points into Math Court Case Briefs, ensuring that the math we teach solves the legal problems we've identified.

III. Active Research Projects (Google Form Surveys - Coming Soon! )

Please select the survey relevant to your role to contribute to our national database:

1. The Principal & Administrator Survey

Focus: Administrative Due Process and School Governance. [Link to Google Form: Legal Needs of School Leadership]

2. The Educator & Teacher Survey

Focus: Classroom Liability, Duty of Care, and Professional Rights. [Link to Google Form: Teacher Legal Literacy Assessment]

3. The Student & Youth Survey

Focus: Mathematical Relevance, Civic Reasoning, and Rights Awareness. [Link to Google Form: Student Engagement & Legal Logic]

4. The Parent & Adult Learner Survey

Focus: Home-School Legal Boundaries and General Functional Literacy. [Link to Google Form: Community Legal Literacy & Dispute Resolution]

5. The Legal Practitioner Survey

Focus: Home-School Legal Boundaries and General Functional Literacy. [Link to Google Form: Community Legal Literacy & Dispute Resolution]

IV. Expected Outcomes

  • The Literacy Map: A comprehensive report highlighting the specific legal topics where T&T educators need the most support.

  • The Math Court Curriculum: A library of 100+ legal-mathematical modules based on actual high-priority legal needs.

  • Judicial Impact Reports: Data-driven projections showing how increased legal literacy can minimize avoidable litigation and lower the cost to the State.

V. Participation & Ethics

All research conducted via the Math Court R&D hub adheres to strict confidentiality standards. We invite educators and the public to contribute their voices to our active surveys, ensuring that the "Court" is built by the people it serves.
